Sick Day

My poor darling, home again for the second day in a row from play-school. I have lab later this morning that I cannot miss. Thankfully Jeff has volunteered to take off work - again - to watch her! When I came home yesterday, from school, the two of them cuddled up on the couch snoring away. Food, fancy new "sick" cup, tissues, Highlands cough suppressant, books, and toys strewn about. It was a sight to be seen! It seems to me looking back that sick days could be kinda fun... With the exception of the flu... Team umizoomi!! Mighty math powers!!

Dress Dye Job!

I bought this dress some time this passed summer.  The dress is nothing fancy, but perfect for boating, music festivals and perhaps going somewhere somewhat dressy.  It was an all around everyday perfect for everything dress.  I wore it once, just once.  Washed it.  With my childs red sock.  End of dress -- or so I thought until just recently.  I picked up a Lucky Mag form the local Hardigs, (I've never read one up until now, and perhaps since things are super expensive, the mag is just a little out of my league, but I got a great idea--ding) an article promised how you can change any wardrobe for just 2 bucks.

Ummm I'm in.  Remembering my little orphaned dress I decided to give it a try.  What could happen that was any worse than getting rid of the damn thing.  Nothing.  All I bought were these:

First I used the Color Remover (follow the direction specifically) then I chose the Yellow.  The original plan was dying the dress yellow and dipping it in orange on the bottom, letting it bleed up.  But deciding the final outcome, I've decided to wait until I am ready for a new dress--ta da--then I'll dye for a new look!
So this is what the dress looked like after the removal:

                                                     Not bad!

Again follow directions per the package, which means you need to wash the dress after this step.  I chose to hand wash it, since it's a little tempremental and wants to change color in the wash.    Then I dyed it yellow.  Directions, directions, directions.

                                                            Presto bingo:

and to save another perished item, I used an old stained white tee I loved once!

I really love this dress now, even better than before.  This whole job took about an hour to do, not very long.  I did it on a Saturday night in my PJ's.  I hung it up to dry in my living room, so that it was ready in the morning when I woke up!  I felt like a kid getting a new present!  Too bad it's freezing outside.   I'll be thinking of summer when I open my closet!

Here is a link to a Lucky Mag video showing how the dye is done!

The new arrival!

                                                                         VIVA!

Looking for other D.I.Y blogs online, I got the bright idea of making one myself.  I have lots of exciting ideas to share that will help spruce up any home, garden, music, and wardrobe.  I'm not your typical Martha Stewart genius, but I add a dash of eccentric to the once piece of plain blah (subject here).  Don't get me wrong -- I love me some Martha.  Imma be into : sewing, kniting, painting, polishing, sanding, staining, lacquering, mothering, student learning (if thats a trade!), while revamping the un-vamp-able, and much much more. (deep breath)

My promise to myself when it comes to this blog was not to minic FB and divulge too much personal info,  but, would be to learn new crafts, perfect them and post them for all of you that are on a budget like me. I am a bit of a penny pintcher, so some of my crafts come form the local St. Vinney's!  Let's have some fun shall we-eeee!
